A small beachside enclave

Narrow Neck is small enough that you can walk across it in a few minutes, but the homes here sit right on the beach and the coastal walk, so the decks take the full sea exposure. The view out across the channel is the whole reason people live here, and a frameless channel system is the balustrade that keeps that view open. The barrier does its job at fall height and disappears visually.

The homes are a mix of original beach houses and newer builds, so the work splits between retrofitting a balustrade onto an old deck and fitting one into a new structure. Side-fixed spigots handle the retrofits; a channel system suits the new work. Both end up with glass because it's the material that suits a beachside setting.

Wind through the headlands

Narrow Neck sits in a gap between the headlands, and the wind can funnel through here in a way that surprises people. That shapes how we engineer the fixings — an exposed deck facing the channel takes more wind than a sheltered one behind the beach. We use 316 marine-grade stainless on every fixing, we powder-coat any aluminium to a coastal spec, and on the most exposed decks we'll specify the fixing detail to the site rather than use a one-size approach.

Pool fencing and shower screens

A few Narrow Neck homes have pools tucked behind the beach houses, and we fit frameless glass barriers that meet F9 and keep the pool area open. Shower screens round out the work — the renovated bathrooms in these homes tend to be compact, so a frameless hinged or sliding door is the right finish to keep the space feeling open.
