Beach Haven doesn't get the open-sea exposure of the East Coast Bays — it sits on the upper harbour, sheltered by the North Shore landmass around it. That makes it a slightly gentler environment for fittings, but I still won't cut corners on the hardware. The homes here are a mix of original baches being done up and renovated family homes, and both come to us for balustrades when the old timber or wrought iron has reached the end of the road.
The decks in Beach Haven tend to face back across the harbour toward the city, so the view is more about the water and the boats than the open ocean. A frameless channel system keeps that view open. On the older decks we're retrofitting, side-fixed spigots let us work with the existing structure rather than rebuild it.
The salt exposure off the upper harbour is real but milder than an open-coast site. Even so, we use marine-grade 316 stainless on every fixing and powder-coat any aluminium to a coastal spec. The cost difference is small and it means the balustrade ages gracefully rather than pitting and staining. On a sheltered Beach Haven deck, done this way, the glass will look good for years.
Some of the larger Beach Haven sections have pools, and we fit frameless glass barriers that meet F9 and keep the pool area open. Shower screens round out the work — the renovated bathrooms in these homes suit a frameless glass screen that's easy to keep clean and makes the room feel bigger, which matters in the more compact original baches.
